Part of what makes succulents so fascinating are the myriad ways they express themselves throughout the year, depending on light, season, temperature, soil, and hydration. For those and other reasons, the plants you receive may not look exactly as they appear on our website. The tip of the leaves are flared and depressed in the center and often reddish just like ‘Hobbit’, but instead of short and chubby, they are 3″ to 4″ long looking like the finger on that famous “Extraterrestrial”. The plant itself grows fast and gargantuan as well easily reaching 5′-6′ tall and 3′ wide! Excellent as patio plant or landscape plant with its red-tipped, long, alien finger-like leaves atop a thick, gnarly trunk.
Crassula Ovata ‘Hobbit’ is a succulent plant that grows up to three feet tall. Crassula ovata ‘hobbit’ is a slow-growing succulent that is perfect for those with brown fingers. It is easy to grow and doesn’t mind a bit of neglect. Plant in well-drained soil with compost added, and include perlite for drainage.
Watering: Spray water once in 2 weeks to moisten the soil but be sure water does not pool up at the bottom of the container which can cause rotting. Allow soil to dry between waterings.
